FRAME canoes run easily and stay dry, are maneuverable when unloaded and loaded, have high initial and final stability and are robust, stable and very resistant to grounding, thanks to the coating. In addition, they are surprisingly light for a wooden boat and have been lovingly crafted. The boats are numbered consecutively, the letter after the number indicates the type of boat.
The boats are either christened and handed over at a canoe meeting in Germany or at the builder’s workshop in Cottbus. Videos of the construction can be found on Youtube.
FRAME Wagner canoes made of plywood and wood in the style of the birch bark canoes of the North American indigenous people
FRAME canoes are built with respect for the achievements of the indigenous boat builders of North America. They not only resemble the birch bark canoes in design and aesthetics, but are also built using the same construction methods, but with the materials available here. Each boat is therefore a unique work of art with a high level of functionality. The dream of this dates back to my early childhood, and it gave direction to my entire life. The first FRAME canoe was built in my studio in 1994, and as of early 2024 there are now 46 boats. It’s amazing what these old shapes are capable of, even in comparison to contemporary boats. The openness of the construction method on the building frame allows a wide range of possibilities, but also requires a great deal of experience with shapes and materials: the lines, the cross-section and the resulting sailing characteristics are created in free form, without a predetermined shape. In this way, each boat can be adapted to the wishes, requirements and abilities of the user. FRAME logo and numbering, as well as a short name on both sides of the boat are included. Personal logos, animal symbols or paintings can be realized on request for an extra charge.

14, 8ft /4.5m canoes:- Allrounder, Solo and SoloPlus: All 14Ft canoes are based on the 2 1/2 Fathom Téte-de-Boule canoe, Adney and Chapelle book (Figure 103), and are all built on the same building frame.
The Allrounder is the FRAME classic and initially very similar to the Tete-de Boule. As a touring boat, it has proven itself in a wide range of applications from river and lake to light WW as a solo, tandem and even as a triple with full touring luggage. It is also very well suited to the Canadian style. Like all other FRAME canoes from this length upwards, it paddles very easily and up to a speed of 6 km/h without much effort. In addition, the stem shape is now derived from the Malecite canoes. Simple, rope-mounted suspension seats for tandem operation are included in the scope of delivery, and a third seat for solo operation is also available on request. The free-hanging seat boards are now also available in a version with a clamping piece for lashing down.

The FRAME-Solo canoe is a new development based on the Allrounder and built with the same building frame. This creates a slight tumblehome in the middle. The design is therefore more similar to the classic Malecite canoes. The center thwart is designed as a seat board and shifted far enough towards the stern that the paddler has a perfect trim and, kneeling towards the stern, has the necessary legroom for Canadian style. The boat conveys a great feeling of safety; even in difficult waves, it rests on the water like a duck. It has very good directional stability without losing maneuverability. The Solo has proven itself in a wide range of applications from river, lake, coastal areas to light WW and is an excellent boat for American freestyle and Canadian-style paddling. Like all other FRAME canoes from this length upwards, it paddles very easily and up to a speed of 6 km/h without much effort. Users with veritable paddling technique recognize that the Solo reacts, almost automatically, to the paddler’s thoughts.
With additional hanging seats, it can also be used as a tandem boat for day trips without a lot of luggage.
Depending on the weight or wishes of the user, the Solo can be manufactured with more or less volume, and the bow and stern lines, as well as the cross-section, are also variable.
The middle thwart can also be built as a wider seat, and from this year on, it is also available with a wicker seat.

The FRAME Solo Plus canoe is a somewhat narrower all-rounder that is primarily intended for solo use, thanks to its fixed middle seat. The boat conveys a great feeling of safety even in difficult waves, and is hardly disturbed by large shifts in weight. It has very good directional stability without losing maneuverability. Like all other FRAME canoes from this length upwards, it paddles very easily and up to a speed of 6 km/h without much effort. It is also very well suited for Canadian-style paddling and American freestyle. With additional hanging seats, it can also be used as a tandem boat.

The FRAME Mini is based on the 2 Fathom Tetes de Boules Hunter’s Canoe from the Adney and Chapelle book (Figure 104), in this form it is a very sensitive boat that does not forgive any lack of concentration (the 13Ft Twister from American Traders, on the other hand, is a calm boat). The width has therefore been changed. This makes it a good freestyle boat for smaller/lighter people. It is unsuitable for longer tours.

The FRAME Malecite 16Ft canoe is based on the 2 1/2 Fathom Malecite St. Lawrence River Canoe from the Adney and Chapelle book (Figure 68). The section thwarts are offset towards the center. The bow area is comfortably designed for bow paddlers, so that it is possible to safely kneel down with knees spread outwards. The fixed seats are fitted with webbing. The center thwart can be designed as a stretcher bar on request.

Like all other FRAME canoes from 14 ft in length, it paddles very easily and up to a speed of 7 km/h without much effort, remains maneuverable even when loaded and stays dry when passing through waves. It is ideal for Canadian-style paddling. With a bow and stern that do not swing up so high, it is also ideal as a tandem freestyle boat.

Suspended seats: Handmade hanging seats are available for all boats, which can be perfectly attached to the seating positions. The holes required for this are recessed under the coaming. Because they are suspended with cords, the seats can swing easily and thus offer the necessary flexibility.
Customization: The boats can also be customized on request, e.g. with your own logo on the bow, boat names or individual artwork on the boat skins.
A maximum of two boats will be built in a year. There may be a waiting list. In order to request a canoe write to
